Our Ministries & Missions
The focus of the Youth team is to reach out to the teens and youth in the country and to give the person of Jesus to others. The Personal Encounter with Jesus is treasured in their hearts and the same experience is spread to others through a one-one evangelization. Disciple Formation Programme are conducted once a year through which the members go through a thorough formation package.
The Formation team is in place as to provide formation of various modules and to facilitate the smooth transition of JY’s from one phase to another, along with their spiritual and character development.
The focus of the English Team is to reach out the non-keralite community and thereby to spread the Good News to all people. The group keeps their fellowship active through regular meetings and fellowship gatherings. The group is represented through their coordinator.
Every Jesus Youth is a missionary – the tag line of Jesus Youth movement after its Silver jubilee in 2010 inspired many hearts to be missionaries. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, JY International team and Middle East teams decided to explore possibilities of setting up missions in the African continent. JYUAE was assigned with this mission.
It is not a simple task to reach out to a new country without any acquaintances or leads. Hence, you will recognise the following narration as a true success story, JY being able to establish a strong presence in Uganda, a country in East Africa with a history of high insecurity
On 17th June 2010, Santosh Mathew and Julius Antony, both from UAE, members of the International and Middle East teams respectively, embarked on a pilot trip to Uganda. The only lead they had was the contact of a priest in Uganda. Unfortunately, the priest had to travel on an emergency and hence was not available to meet them. This turned out to be a great blessing as they could surrender the entire trip to the Lord and depend completely on Him. They experienced the guidance of the Holy Spirit very tangibly throughout the duration of the week-long trip.
This was a very daunting task to reach out to a new country and build a strong base for the JY Movement as there were a lot of established youth organisations in Uganda. This was also one of the first initiatives in the history of the movement to send missionaries to a place that had no known contacts or active members
Surely this was not something that happened by chance but, rather, it was a fulfillment of a prophecy from God that the JY movement shall reach out to all of Africa. The movement strongly believes that Christ has great plans for JY in Africa in the years to come.
